CHARLOTTE’S WEB BY E.B. WHITE

Charlotte’s Web is a sad, powerful story, yet a story full of hope and education. We follow the lives of several animals, including a piglet (Wilbur), a spider (Charlotte), a pig, a rat, and more. We learn about the trials and tribulations of barn life, and we learn the concept of personification. Your child will relate to the bonds of friendship and some of the inevitable unfairnesses of life. Charlotte’s Web can be a transformational book for children, and it’s an useful introduction to the balance and beauty inherent in life as well as death.

THE TRUE STORY OF THE THREE LITTLE PIGS BY JON SCIEZKA

This easy read is full of entertaining pictures. Your kiddo will love the imaginative twist on the classic tale of the three little pigs. Did the big bad wolf really have big bad intentions? Is it a coincidence or convenience that Mr. Wolf found himself a free meal when he happened to sneeze on a home? Does Mr. Wolf deserve jail time? And who will care for Mr Wolf’s grandmother? You’ll find the answers to these questions and more in this 32 page tale by Jon Sciezka.

Charlotte’s Web and The True Story of the Three Little Pigs are very different tales with very different themes, but both have the potential to be a favorite read for your child. Check back soon for further book suggestions from Home Away From Home, your local Florida daycare center!
